Pleasanton, CA— September 30, 2016 — NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the franchise, NextHome Connect Realty. The brokerage will represent the 19th NextHome franchise location in the state of Florida.
The brokerage will be owned and operated by eight-year real estate veteran, Annett Block. The Fort Lauderdale-based brokerage will provide residential real estate services to the cities of Lauderdale By The Sea, Fort Lauderdale Beach, and Pompano Beach.
Originally from Germany, Block moved to the United States in 1997. Her family bought several businesses in Florida and she was in charge of helping rehabilitate and resell these struggling companies.
“We would take existing businesses that were struggling and work to get those companies back to being profitable,” said Block.
In 2008, the focus turned to rehabilitating real estate properties. This was the right time and opportunity for Block to attain her real estate license.
Block started her real estate career with a small, independent brokerage. Over the next two years, she focused on buying properties, fixing them up and either renting or selling them after rehab.
In 2010, Block attained her broker’s license and decided to go out on her own by opening Florida Connects, Inc.
“By owning my own brokerage, I was able to do business the way I wanted to,” recalls Block. “In 2010, many residents of South Florida were facing the possibility of losing their home. I really focused on doing whatever I could to prevent people from losing their homes. If there wasn’t a possibility of saving their home, we concentrated on short selling their home instead of having it go to foreclosure. It was a tough time for many and I wanted to be a helpful resource in any way I could.”
“Many of those struggling families that I had the opportunity to help years ago have come back to the market and are able to buy again,” added Block.
In 2016, Block saw the needs of her clientele changing and she knew she needed to change with them. She decided to affiliate her brokerage with NextHome in order to meet the needs of her clients.
“I interviewed many different franchises, but NextHome was the only one I found to be innovative and fresh,” said Block.
When not selling real estate, you will find Block spending time with her husband of 21 years, Frank, somewhere beachside.
“I like to spend as many days as we can in or on the water,” said Block with a laugh. “Whether it’s scuba diving, snorkeling, or on a boat, we love enjoying the wonderful city we call home.”
