Pleasanton, CA— June 15, 2017 — NextHome is proud to announce our latest addition to the franchise, NextHome Living (Calabasas Branch). This brokerage is the third NextHome franchise location owned and operated by top-producing REALTOR®, Robyn Jones.
She successfully opened her first NextHome office in Katy, Texas in May of 2015 and NextHome Living in West Hollywood, California in October of 2016.
The company sold over $42 million dollars in real estate last year.
The new Calabasas location will provide residential real estate sales and property management services to the cities of Calabasas, Bell Canyon, Woodland Hills, Encino, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice Beach and the Greater Los Angeles area.
Originally from Los Angeles, Jones spent over two decades as an entertainment executive in the field of music publishing. With high profile clients such as Capitol Records, Sony, and Paramount, Jones was responsible for working with some of the most popular musical artists in the world.
In 1996, Jones stepped away from her career to attain the law degree she had always wanted. She moved to Atlanta, Georgia to attend Georgia State University, where she graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration and a Juris Doctor degree.
While in school, Jones took a course entitled “Wealth in America” based on real estate. She was fascinated with the subject and realized how much interest she had in the world of real estate.
“The course made me realize the majority of wealthy people in the United States built their wealth through real estate,” said Jones. “It was then and there that I wanted to learn more about buying and selling homes and how I could better myself and others through real estate.”
In 1999, Jones attained her Georgia real estate license and began working as a REALTOR® part time with RE/MAX Suburban in Duluth, GA while she completed her degree. Moving back to LA the following year, Jones began her legal career as a Capitol Legal Attorney and spent the next seven years in the legal field before realizing the passion for real estate was too strong for her to ignore.
In 2007, Jones moved to Texas when her husband, Alvin, had his job relocated to the Houston area. As they made the move to the Houston suburb of Katy, Jones realized it was the opportunity to start fresh and begin working as a full time REALTOR®.
“When we moved to Katy, we did not know a one single person,” recalls Jones. “Add in the fact that 2007 was the beginning of the recession and I had every reason to fail. I was determined to make the career change and worked extremely hard to make sure my first year as a full time REALTOR® was successful.”
In her first year in an unfamiliar city, Jones sold over $4,000,000 in real estate. Continuing strong sales numbers, Jones attained her broker’s license and opened her own brokerage, Robyn Jones Homes, in 2010.
As the sales numbers continued to climb, Jones organically grew the company to nearly 20 agents without aggressively recruiting.
“I think our brokerage became an attractive place to work because of how fun and dynamic of a company we were,” added Jones.
In 2015, the office saw in excess of 140 transactions closed and was one of the top selling brokerages in her market. Knowing she had to add additional services to keep up with the ever-changing real estate market, Jones thought joining a franchise would help streamline her client process.
“I found NextHome in the National Association of REALTORS® magazine,” said Jones. “Seeing the company lined up with other familiar real estate franchises, I was really interested in finding out how the company was able to grow so quickly. After spending time with NextHome’s Vice President of Sales, Charis Moreno, I knew NextHome was exactly the company I wanted to be connected with.
Robyn and her husband Alvin, live between West Hollywood, CA and Katy, TX. They have two sons, but their favorite children are Tank, their Bulldog, and Bella, their French Bulldog. Bella has been trying to get a date with Luke to no avail.
Teri Lewis is a business partner and will run the Calabasas office. Lewis is a Calabasas resident, has lived in the San Fernando Valley for 20 years and was born and raised in Cheviot Hills. She has been named a “Best of Houzz” professional multiple times by Houzz.com and was recognized as a 2016 NextHome Hall of Fame Award winner for her exceptional sales volume in 2015.
Lewis is a graduate of UCLA with a degree in Liberal Arts and Design. As an experienced house flipper, she has rehabbed and re-sold mid-century moderns in the Encino Hills for a several years. She currently lives in her most recent renovation – a beautiful mid-century modern home in the Calabasas Hills. Lewis lives with her two sons and her rescue dogs, Lucy and Calvin.
