Pleasanton, CA — April 10, 2018 — NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the franchise, NextHome North Valley Realty. The brokerage represents the 55th location opened in the state of California for the NextHome franchise.
Based in Chico, the company will be owned and operated by business partners Jacob Darr and Casey Smyth. Their brokerage will provide real estate services such as single-family residential sales, first-time home buyers, investment, luxury, multi-family properties, and land sales to the communities of Chico, Paradise, Durham, Magalia, Forest Ranch, Orland, and the remainder of Butte County.
Located 90 miles north of Sacramento, Chico is the most populated city in all of Butte County with more than 85,000 residents.
Both in real estate since 2014, Jacob and Casey have known each other since college. They first met at Chico State University where Jacob’s girlfriend (now wife) Morgan and Casey’s girlfriend (now wife) Kelli introduced the two men to each other.
After graduating college, Casey started as a member of the Cory Meyer Home Selling Team in Chico. Jacob started around the same time as an agent with a nationally franchised brokerage in Chico.
While working at separate companies, the men remained friends – each building their own exceptional business.
Casey grew and was able to create his own business separate of the team. He and Kelli formed their own team – The Smyth Home Selling Team. Growing quickly, they added a Buyer’s Agent, Ivy Lenahan. In 2017, the team sold 62 transaction sides, putting them squarely at the top of the team rankings for the area.
Jacob had a successful 2017 as well, selling 36 homes as a single agent.
Seeing success in their own methods, Jacob and Casey saw an opportunity to come together and start their own brokerage.
“We self-built our businesses,” said Casey. “Knowing this, we wanted to reinvest in our own resources rather than waiting for our companies to incorporate the technology and services we needed to grow.”

Outside of real estate, both Jacob and Casey are about to become first-time fathers.
Jacob and Morgan are excited about having Oliver, their son due May 31st, 2018. The Darrs have been married for three years and enjoy hiking and all outdoor activities.
Casey and Kelli are expecting their baby boy, Cooper, due July 1st, 2018. Also married for the past three years, the Smyths like to snowboard, exercise and hike.
