Pleasanton, CA — December 27, 2022 — NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the franchise, NextHome Mountain Life, located in Missoula, Montana. The brokerage joins the growing NextHome franchise that currently has 611 active office locations across the country.
NextHome Mountain Life offers clients expertise in both residential and commercial real estate, with a wealth of experience in restaurant properties.
Located in Montana’s second largest population center, NextHome Mountain Life serves clients throughout Missoula, Lolo, Florence, Stevensville, Hamilton, Potomac, Frenchtown, and Polson.
NextHome Mountain Life is owned by commercial real estate professional and restaurant entrepreneur Melissa Mooney. Megan McMeekin will also be joining the brokerage as office manager as well as a licensed real estate sales professional with particular expertise in new home construction.
Melissa began her real estate career in 2010 after a decade in the marketing/advertising industry. After obtaining her license, Melissa joined a local franchised brokerage where she became well-versed in both residential and commercial transactions. As her career evolved, Melissa became a sought-after resource for restaurateurs who wanted to align Montana’s liquor license laws with their properties.
In 2007, Melissa and her husband became the owners of The Keep – a local restaurant that had been around since the 1960s. In addition to the restaurant, Melissa owns the nearby Highlands Golf Club, and in 2019 the Mooneys became the owners of 1889 Steakhouse. The name pays homage to the year that Montana became a state.
Alongside a phenomenal management team at the restaurants and golf course, Melissa was able to excel in both business ownership and real estate. She became a top producer at her brokerage and continued to provide exceptional sales service for area buyers and sellers.

Melissa has served in various positions with both her state and local real estate associations. She was the Missoula Organization of REALTORS® President in 2018, and has served on the communications committee for the Montana Association of REALTORS®. She was also the 2019 REALTOR® of the Year for her local organization.
Much of her success came through her client-centered approach to business.
“Every client has a different need than the one before,” Melissa said. “I am going to listen to their needs and be a calm guiding influence through whatever their transaction might bring. My clients know that I am a trusted partner through that whole transaction., from beginning to close and beyond. My business approach is that it’s all about people and building relationships for the long term rather than just closing the sale.”
In 2018, Melissa obtained her Supervising Broker Endorsement, and she began to think about next steps for her career.
“Around 2019, I attended a conference where someone was wearing NextHome apparel,” Melissa said. “It was such eye-catching marketing that I went back to my hotel room and looked NextHome up.”
Although impressed with what she saw, Melissa was soon preoccupied with opening 1889 amid a growing global pandemic. After successfully riding out that storm, Melissa knew that 2022 was the right time to revisit opening a NextHome franchise.
Today, NextHome Mountain Life is poised to provide exceptional real estate services through highly qualified real estate professionals.

Melissa is a proud graduate of the University of Montana who enjoys cooking, skiing, golfing, rafting, and enjoying Montana’s pristine outdoors. The family has a deep love for their community and fundraises for the Missoula Food Bank, The Montana Food Bank, Watsons Children’s Center, the local Humane Society, and the Dogs for Diabetes Foundation.
Melissa is currently the co-chair for the Missoula Organization of REALTORS® Professional Standards Committee.
