Pleasanton, CA— September 9, 2016 — NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the franchise, NextHome Realty Professionals. The company will represent the 17th location in the state of Florida.
The brokerage will be led by owner/broker and second generation REALTOR®, Barry Dunn. The Fort Lauderdale-based brokerage will provide residential real estate services to the cities of Fort Lauderdale, Wilton Manors, Oakland Park, Pompano Beach and surrounding areas.
Dunn has been around the real estate industry since childhood. With his family owning a real estate brokerage in North Carolina at the time he was born, Dunn was always in the office with his parents.
As he got older, Dunn would help with odd jobs around the office like filing paperwork or taking messages. “Not bad for a six-year old,” said Dunn with a laugh.
In 1995, Dunn followed in the family footsteps and opened his own real estate company – Barry Dunn Realty. Over the next eight years, he built a steady, predictable sales business and helped dozens of residents in the Raleigh and Durham communities.
With his success, Dunn was able to take several vacations a year. His preferred getaway spot was Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 2003, Dunn decided to make his favorite destination his new home.
“I moved away from the snow and started enjoying the sand,” recalls Dunn.
With his relocation, Dunn knew he had to start over and create a new sphere of contacts. He began working for Charles Rutenberg Realty in Fort Lauderdale in early 2004.
His focus on meeting people and building strong relationships helped him get his business off the ground quickly and within months of re-starting his sales career, he was back to selling successfully. He attributes much of his success to coaching and accountability partners.
“I really value education,” said Dunn. “I knew that if I focused on building those relationships and staying committed to helping people who were looking for a reliable real estate professional, I would be just fine.”
In early 2016, Dunn’s entrepreneurial spirit had him wanting more out of his business. As a previous business owner, he wanted to own a real estate brokerage again. But this time, he wanted to partner with a company that could provide services in an easy to manage system.
“I was at a Tom Ferry event when he said ‘You need to think bigger,’” recalls Dunn. “I knew I could always just open my own shop. But I wanted to think bigger and bring on other agents who were committed to being great real estate professionals. I wanted to help them grow personally and professionally.”
When not selling real estate, Dunn enjoys spending time with his partner of ten years, Jorge Meza. The couple wed in July 2016 and will be enjoying an extended honeymoon once their NextHome office construction is complete.
