Pleasanton, CA — July 12, 2022 — NextHome is pleased to announce the expansion of NextHome Custom Realty in Simpsonville, Kentucky. This new office builds on the success of NextHome Custom Realty’s first location in Frankfort, which opened in 2015.
The Simpsonville brokerage joins the growing NextHome franchise that currently has 591 active office locations across the country.
NextHome Custom Realty is conveniently located in Shelby County and serves the surrounding areas while specializing in residential, farm, land, first-time homebuyer, relocation, investment, and other real estate needs.
NextHome Custom Realty is owned by the husband-and-wife team of Carol Smith and Garth Vinson. Carol is the Principal Broker and her daughter, Cassidy Eden, rounds out the leadership team as NextHome Custom Realty’s Managing Broker of the Simpsonville location.

Carol started her real estate career in 1988 with a local commercial brokerage. A year later, she became the manager of a property management company. Her management portfolio included two large apartment complexes that exceeded 500 units.
In 1999, she and a friend started a retail business called Lucky Horseshoe Saddlery. After experiencing remarkable growth, Carol sold her shares of the company in 2002.
After selling the retail business, Carol started a career with the Commonwealth of Kentucky and was promoted to Operations Branch Manager due to her incredible work ethic. Over the next 13 years, Carol worked with some of the highest levels in state government. It was there that she would meet her future husband, Garth, and the couple married in 2010.
At the end of 2013, with Garth’s support, Carol worked as a REALTOR® with a national real estate brokerage. In 2014, she sold three million in volume. The achievement becomes more remarkable in an area where average home prices hovered around $150,000 at the time.
In 2015, Carol doubled her achievement, closing six million in volume.
As an entrepreneur at heart, Carol knew that 2015 was the right time to open her own brokerage.
As Carol and Garth considered their many options, they discovered NextHome through a social media post.
“We looked at what NextHome had to offer their franchisees and loved the technology and culture,” recalls Carol. “Combining that with our local market knowledge, we have a brokerage that both clients and agents want to work with.”
NextHome Custom Realty in Frankfort opened in December 2015, and since that time the brokerage has gained a reputation for excellence.
When not selling real estate, the family loves to travel. They enjoy traveling as a family and have visited countries such as Honduras, Belize, and the Dominican Republic. They also love to support local businesses and find the “hidden treasures” within our communities.
Garth is a proud Army veteran, and Cassidy’s husband, Justin, has served in the Air National Guard. With a strong military connection, the family is dedicated to giving back to service members through the Veterans of Foreign Wars and other service organizations. Cassidy also donates a portion of her income per sale to a local animal shelter.
Cassidy graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2020 Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Agricultural Economics and a Business minor. She and Justin married in October 2021.
