The brokerage is conveniently located in the DeBary Executive Center alongside a wealth of other real estate businesses including a real estate attorney, lender, CPA, and an anticipated title and insurance company.

NextHome Realty Pros is owned by John MacFarlane and Peter Kurkjian. John will serve as the office’s Broker of Record. Together, this power couple offers exceptional real estate knowledge, professionalism, and kindness.
Peter first obtained his real estate license in 1984, while simultaneously pursuing a career in accounting. After moving to Florida, Peter left accounting and embraced real estate full-time.
Peter and John met in 2002, and Peter immediately knew John would make a remarkable real estate sales associate.
“John was working as a restaurant server at the time, and had a talent for working with people and providing outstanding customer service,” Peter said. “That’s what real estate is. It has to do with personal relationships and John excelled at that.”
John obtained his real estate sales license in 2006 and, together, the couple built a reputation for excellent client service.
“It is rewarding helping buyers get into a home, whatever their situation,” John said. “Real estate is my chosen career because I like people, I like training new associates, and I like being a mentor to others as they succeed.”
In January 2012, Peter and John opened their own independent office – Central Florida Home Pros LLC. The brokerage was successful, closing more transactions per agent than brokerages twice its size. Peter and John grew their office to 12 associates and became one of the top producing brokerages in their local association.
In the midst of this success, Peter and John knew that their hard-working associates deserved better access to cutting-edge technology. That’s when a small orange dog, NextHome’s mascot Luke, reminded John of NextHome.
“I make a point of going to all the local brokerage events and introducing myself, so when NextHome All American opened a branch in DeLand, I stopped by,” John said. “I ended up winning a gift basket with a stuffed Luke dog in it. Our primary brokerage color was orange, so that little guy sat on our front desk for a while. Three years later, when we started looking at franchises, we were reminded of NextHome.”
After looking deeper, John and Peter were amazed at the value NextHome offered.
“There’s no way we could replicate NextHome’s technology offerings independently without spending far more than our franchise fees,” John said. “NextHome offers real value, natural exposure, great tools, and even the app alone is amazing. NextHome’s marketing is crisp, clean, and the technology we have now will attract great agent talent. In addition to all this, the values of NextHome paralleled what we do in always putting Humans over Houses. It was like finding a glass slipper. NextHome is a great fit.”

With Chamber of Commerce and other network referrals, they donate 10 percent of their gross proceeds to a local non-profit. The referral source gets to pick the charity that benefits. The program also focuses on keeping money in the local community by encouraging that the non-profit be a member of the local chamber of commerce.
“We wanted to do something to make ourselves stand out and give back,” Peter said. “Pregnancy centers, pet rescues, arts organizations, childhood cancer foundations, and more have all benefited from this program. Making that difference in our community has been so rewarding.”
Outside the office, Peter and John enjoy relaxing at home with their two beautiful cocker spaniels Gabby and Coco. Peter and John have been a couple for more than 20 years and were married in 2014. John is also the proud father of a 29-year-old son.
