WHY I’M A REALTOR
Right out of college, I got a job as a writer at an advertising agency on Madison Ave in New York. I became a true "Mad Man" and won awards for the ads I created. What I learned as a peddler of ideas, products and services, was how to be a good communicator. What I also learned was that it was impossible to be a good communicator without being a good listener.
Advertising eventually took me away from New York to employment in other cities. And I began to develop a relationship with real estate. And realtors. Altogether, I bought and sold a co-op in New York, two condos in Chicago, a house in Atlanta and four homes in Miami, FL. Some of the realtors I worked with were terrific at listening and communicating and fulfilling my every real estate wish. Others were not. Often, I felt I could have done a better job. And so, sixteen years ago, in the interest of doing just that, I became a realtor here in Columbus, Ohio.
Buying or selling a home can be something of a roller coaster ride. It’s my job to smooth the way. By listening and effectively communicating with sincerity and respect–not just with my clients, but all parties involved–I am able to see my buyers and sellers through to a happy ending.

Jim and team were AMAZING! We finally sold the Family home. My parents built it over 50 years ago. We were a family of 5 (Mom, Dad, two older sisters and me. Jim had empathy for how much and hard it was going to be. The home did not get much tlc over the
years just necessities. The back was covered in moss and the big deck was sturdy but really needed cleaned up. Once my sisters and I got the home cleared Jim gave us the name of a super reasonable, but amazing cleaning company as well as a Power Wash Company.
All told for the cleaning inside and out was about $500. Everyroom inside was cleaned to perfection and The house siding looked brand new as well as the deck I am coninvinced this added thousands to the sale price. Now for the home sale itself, we went on
Market on a friday had multiple over asking offers and actully accepted an all cash offer on the very next day Saturday. We actually closed a week from that following Monday. Fantastic! We could not have been more pleased. In the new year I will work with
to have him find my next home. Very lucky to have found him.

Jim is an awesome realtor! We were looking for our first home and had a million questions throughout the process, all of which Jim answered quickly and thoroughly. He worked with us on every part of the process and had recommendations for everything outside
of his domain. He even helped us find a plumber last minute on our move-in day! Jim goes above and beyond and we would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a realtor! He will certainly be who we go back to if we decide to purchase a different home!

Jim Doherty was on it every step of the way when it became time to sell my mom's condo. He listed the condo and we received multiple offers in less than a week. He guided us through the inspection process and when the first buyer dropped out, found another
immediately. Closing was quick and easy. The condo sold for well over the asking price.
Jim has worked as a realtor with members of my family for the past ten years. So when my wife and I were thinking about building a home a few years ago, we turned to Jim. He helped us every step of the way--through the ups and downs--and even after our
home was completed and we were living in it. Most recently, we enlisted his help in finding a condo for my wife's mother. In the area we were looking, the market was very tight--not a lot of condos on the market. Jim helped us snag one that was just right
for my mother-in-law, while also helping to coordinate the closing so that it coincided with the closing of my mother-in-law's home in another city. (My wife and I only wish he could have helped sell her house too. But that's another story.) Jim's only goal
is to make sure everyone's happy in the end. He's been doing this for awhile and he knows his stuff. He's also a very nice guy--and patient. My wife and I--and my mother-in-law--couldn't be happier with him. Jim's our forever realtor.
