Pleasanton, CA — January 19, 2018 — NextHome is proud to announce the latest addition to the franchise, NextHome Legendary Properties – Bismarck Branch. The brokerage represents the second office location for the NextHome franchisee.

Scott Louser, owner and operator of NextHome Legendary Properties, along with his wife Alexa, an award-winning REALTOR® in the Minot office, says the brokerage will provide residential real estate services to Bismarck, North Dakota and the surrounding metropolitan area. Top-producing local REALTOR® Desri Neether will serve as the brokerage’s Team Leader/Office Manager.

As the capital of North Dakota, the city of Bismarck has a population of approximately 80,000 and represents more than 10% of the entire state’s population. In 2015, Forbes Magazine named the city one of the Top 10 Fastest Growing Small Cities in the United States.

NextHome Legendary Properties will also help clients with commercial properties, land sales, new construction, multi-unit properties, and real estate investments.

The company will open strong with a roster of some of the best REALTORS® in the area – Debbie Aberle, Lindsay Ahlgren, Janel Buchholtz, Kelsi Hach, Heidi Hilzendeger, and Fran Joersz.

Licensed since 1997, Louser is a second-generation REALTOR®, taking after his father Larry, who started his real estate career in the mid-1970’s. Father and son worked side-by-side at Preferred Minot Real Estate.

Just a few years into his real estate career, Louser went on to become one of the top producers in his area. In 1999, Louser sold an incredible 50 homes and has continued that trend ever since.

Louser not only started strongly in sales, but was asked by several peers in local real estate leadership to become a Director of the Minot Board of REALTORS®. In 2001, he served as President of the Minot Board of REALTORS®. His time as President helped him realize the importance of REALTOR® leadership and its significant role in homeownership.

From 2002 to 2005, Louser served on the Executive Team for the North Dakota Association of REALTORS® (NDAR). His excellent service eventually led to him holding the highest position in North Dakota organized real estate – serving as State President of NDAR in 2005.

Even with his commitments to real estate leadership, Louser continued his strong sales career and was awarded the NDAR State REALTOR® of The Year in 2006.

In 2006, Louser started a three-year term as a Director for the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).

In 2007, on the tenth anniversary of getting his real estate license, Louser was asked by his father to take over the Preferred Minot Real Estate brokerage. Overwhelmed, but thankful, Louser took over as owner and CEO of the brokerage.

In 2009, Louser served as one of 13 Regional Vice Presidents for the NAR. He was responsible for overseeing the states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska.

In 2012, Louser served as the National Association of REALTORS® Vice President and was in charge of Government Affairs and Public Policy.

As a graduate of Minot State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Management, Louser has always made a commitment to education.

He holds the NAR designations Certified Residential Broker (CRB), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Graduate of the REALTOR® Institute (GRI), Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR), Accredited Buyer’s Representative Manager (ABRM), Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource (SFR), and Electronic Professional (E-Pro).

Due to his service as a champion of home ownership and private property rights, Louser added public service to his growing list of roles.

In 2010, Louser was elected to the North Dakota State House of Representatives for a four-year term. In 2014, he was re-elected to the same position and will serve through 2018.

In 2013, Louser introduced a Bill to create a Constitutional Amendment to permanently ban transfer taxes upon a sale of a home in North Dakota. Once legislature passed the Bill, it was backed by NAR and NDAR.

In the November 2014 election, eight measures were on the ballot – including Louser’s Bill. When the votes were tallied, only one Bill passed – the permanent ban on transfer taxes upon sale of a home in North Dakota.

During Louser’s years in leadership service, he never lost focus of his main priority – running a dynamic and successful real estate office. In the two years of running the Minot-based NextHome Legendary office, Louser has seen the brokerage take significant market share and grew the company to be an award-winning office.

Please join us in congratulating Scott, Alexa, and the rest of the team at NextHome Legendary Properties on the opening of their brand-new Bismarck location!

NextHome Realty Advisors launches in Texarkana, Texas

NextHome Realty Advisors launches in Texarkana, Texas

Karen and Lee Hammonds
Karen and Lee Hammonds

Pleasanton, CA — January 16, 2018 — NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the franchise, NextHome Realty Advisors. The brokerage represents the 15th location opened in Texas for the NextHome franchise.

Based in Texarkana, the company will be owned and operated by husband and wife and business partners, Lee and Karen Hammonds. Karen will also serve as broker of record for the company.

NextHome Realty Advisors will provide real estate services such as single family residential sales, first-time home buyers, rehab and resale property listings, investment sales, luxury homes, land sales, veteran/military relocation assistance, lakefront properties, and commercial services to the areas of Texarkana, Nash, Wake Village, Redwater, Maud, Simms, Hooks, New Boston, De Kalb, Atlanta, Queen City, and all other communities in Bowie County, Texas. The brokerage will also provide real estate services to regions of Arkansas such as the cities of Hope, Ashdown, Foreman and other areas of Miller and Little River Counties.

Texarkana received its name because of the city’s proximity to both the Texas and Arkansas state lines.

As a young adult, Karen opened her own beauty salon at the young age of 20 years old. After growing her salon business for the next eight years, she purchased her first home. Going through the process of buying a home was not only interesting, but something Karen found as an opportunity to change careers from the demands of a salon owner.

Getting her real estate license in 1999, she started as an agent at a local independent brokerage in De Kalb, Texas. In her very first year in the business, Karen sold 20 homes. A lot of her previous business ownership experience prior to real estate proved to be valuable when it came to marketing and systematizing her real estate business.

Steadily growing her real estate business over the next 10 years, Karen saw annual sales of more than 70 homes annually. She credits her success to hard work and understanding and catering to the needs of the client above all else.

“My business philosophy is to be a solutions-based agent who provides guidance to helping someone find the right home,” said Karen. “It’s about being honest and never forcing someone to make any decision they are not comfortable with. As a full-service REALTOR®, I take pride in being a resource that my clients can count on to give them the right expert advice in what can sometimes be a very stressful process.”

Also licensed since 1999, Lee has been a business entrepreneur for his entire adult life. In 2007, Lee started his own pest control company. Then two years later, purchased a competing pest company – Rid-X Pest Control – and merged the two companies which quickly increased sales and service.

In 2011, Karen stepped away from real estate sale to join Lee helping him with his pest control company and over the next five years, they grew to one of the largest and most-respected pest control companies in the region.

In 2016, Karen wanted to return to real estate, but realized that many real estate companies lacked a broker who would be able to assist agents in growing their business. Instead of returning to the industry and working for another brokerage, Karen attained her broker’s license and decided to go out on her own.

“By becoming NextHome Realty Advisors, our company focuses on being the resource center in our community,” said Karen. “We want to be the company that not only shows professionalism, but also provides high-level technology, listing syndication, increased communication with our sellers and be a local business our city can be proud of.”

“In addition, we want to offer agents a company that will help with training, guidance, support and flexible commission options that allow agents to grow in their real estate career,” she added.

In 2017, Lee moved from the pest control business to real estate sales to work alongside his wife.

“He’s always been a people person and is great at building relationships with his clients,” said Karen. “He’s naturally personable and his early success in full-time real estate sales is a reflection of his hard work and the way he connects with people.”

Not only are the Hammondses involved in their community through real estate, but also in volunteer work to help those less fortunate in the Texarkana area.

Karen donates her time to the Altrusa of Texarkana – an organization committed to social services to those in need. This will be Karen’s third year on the Board of Directors of the organization and she will serve as the 2018 Secretary.

Together for more than 20 years, the Hammondses have two children from previous relationships who have grown up together since they were two years old.

“The kids are only five days apart in age, so it’s been like raising twins,” said Karen with a laugh.

Aaron (23 years old) was in the Air Force and has just returned home. He will be starting fire school and intends to pursue a career as a firefighter. Lauren (23) graduated from Henderson State University with a degree in Graphic Design and works for a software company in Denver, Colorado.

Please join us in congratulating Karen, Lee and the rest of the team at NextHome Realty Advisors on the opening of their NextHome office in Texarkana, TX!

Pleasanton, CA — January 10, 2018  NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the franchise, NextHome In The Triad. The brokerage represents the 10th location opened in North Carolina for the NextHome franchise.

Based in Greensboro, the company will be owned and operated by husband and wife team, Paul and Virginia Milam. NextHome In The Triad will provide real estate services such as single family residential sales, first-time home buyers, rehab and resale property listings, and investment sales to the areas of Greensboro, Burlington, Winston-Salem, Summerfield, Oak Ridge, High Point, and all other communities in Guilford, Alamance and Forsyth Counties.

With more than 40 years in the real estate industry, Paul brings tremendous experience and a second-to-none track record to the NextHome franchise.

Starting his career in 1978 in Charleston, West Virginia, he sold homes with a local franchised real estate office before taking over as the Assistant Director of Sales for Smith Mountain Realty in Moneta, Virginia in 1981.

Leading an entire sales division over the next five years, Paul was involved in the selling of 12 lakefront resort communities in Moneta.

In 1986, Paul moved to Wilmington, North Carolina and began working with mentor and friend, Don Gilstrap. As a broker in Wrightsville Beach, Paul opened his own real estate brokerage, Milam Williams & Associates, and sold more than $600 million in real estate volume over the next five years.

In 1993, Paul franchised his brokerage with Coldwell Banker. Starting with just two agents, Paul organically grew his company, Coldwell Banker SeaCoast, to more than 125 agents five years later at the time of the sale of his company.

From 1997 on, Paul has focused on new home developments and new builder inventory at Lake Hogan Farms in Chapel Hill and then Henson Farms, Henson Forest, Autumn Lake, Riverside, and various active adult communities in the Triad. His wife, Virginia, joined to work alongside him to help maintain stellar new home marketing services while keeping up with the sales growth.

In 2016, Paul saw an Inman News article about a fast-growing real estate franchise.

“In the past, my leadership team and I were able to grow our brokerage under a franchise model,” recalled Paul. “After reading more about NextHome, I wanted to re-open a brokerage and build a tech-based company and grow with smart, talented and forward-thinking agents. I think this is the perfect time to bring a fresh new brokerage to the market.”

“We are excited to launch NextHome In The Triad and see nothing but great things in the future for our company,” added Paul.

In addition to Paul and Virginia, the initial leadership team will feature a Marketing Coordinator, Sadie Jones.

When not selling real estate, the Milams focus on spending time with their family. The couple have been married for 22 years and have three children.

Please join us in congratulating Paul, Virginia, and the rest of the team at NextHome In The Triad on the opening of their brand new NextHome office on Lawndale Drive across from Target in Greensboro, NC!

Pleasanton, CA — January 5, 2018  NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the franchise, NextHome Legends Realty. The brokerage represents the 14th location opened in Texas for the NextHome franchise.

Based in San Angelo, the company will be owned and operated by business partners Rick Hanby and Will Barnes. NextHome Legends Realty will provide real estate services such as single family residential sales, first-time home buyers, multi-family properties, land and ranch sales, military and veteran relocation, and investment sales to the areas of San Angelo, Christoval, Wall, Grape Creek, and the remainder of Tom Green County.

Located in the center of the state of Texas, San Angelo is home to just over 110,000 residents. The city has a large military and veteran presence with Goodfellow Air Force Base being a central part of the community.

Barnes started his real estate career in 2008 with a local independent real estate brokerage with the intention to fix and flip properties part time. After selling 15 houses in his first year as a part-time agent, he transitioned to full time in 2011 and has been a top producer ever since – selling more than $7 million in volume annually.

Hanby started his career in 2012 when he opened Hanby Realty. A top-producing broker himself, Hanby sells more than $6 million annually.

After meeting Barnes at the Texas REALTORS® Leadership Program (TRLP), Hanby knew he wanted to work with him.

“I really found Will to be a right fit to work alongside me,” said Hanby. “But he insisted on having a brokerage that provided real value to an agent. After doing research, only NextHome fit what Will and I had been looking for.”

“NextHome Legends Realty is a brokerage where the customer gets a much better experience than your average real estate office,” said Barnes. “With our technology platform and all the services we can provide our clients, it really makes a difference in getting top dollar for our client’s listings.”

Local agents have taken notice, as well. Since opening the brokerage’s doors 60 days ago, the business partners have grown the company to seven associates.

Not just REALTORS®, Barnes and Hanby give back to the community too.

Barnes is in his third year on the Board of Directors for the San Angelo Association of REALTORS®. Hanby was the 2017 Chair for the Community Enrichment Committee for the San Angelo Association of REALTORS®, and also served on the MLS and Strategic Planning Committees.

Hanby also sits on the Construction Board of Appeals for the City of San Angelo.

When not selling real estate, Barnes and Hanby focus on family.

Hanby and his wife, Michelle, have been married for seven years. The couple have three children between the two of them – daughters Catherine (age 24), Christina (age 22), and Scarlett (age 3). Hanby enjoys playing poker and rehabbing properties.

Barnes has been married for 13 years to his wife, Tammy. They have three children – son Hayden (age 11) and twin girls Presley and Ella (age 8). Barnes is an avid basketball player and is the basketball coach for Hayden’s youth league. He also is the Sunday school teacher at his local church for 3rd/4th grade.

Granite Bay is a suburb located in Placer County just outside of Sacramento and is home to 20,000 residents.

Starting her real estate career in 1999, Mitchell has been a top-producing REALTOR® in the Sacramento region for nearly two decades.

picked up the business quickly selling 10 homes in her first six months as a REALTOR®. From that point forward, she built her business by referral and has been selling over $10 million in sales annually ever since.

From 2008 to 2013, Mitchell averaged over 100 transactions per year.

“I work really hard to cultivate relationships with my clients before the sale,” said Mitchell. “For me, it’s people before paychecks.”

After working for 18 years at a local franchised office, Mitchell was ready to go out on her own and open a brokerage under the NextHome brand.

“After a lot of thought and preparation, it was time for me to open my own company and create a positive environment for career-oriented REALTORS®,” said Mitchell. “NextHome Signature Properties will be a brokerage where an agent’s voice will be heard and they will be supported.”

“I want our agents to feel like a valued person in addition to being a valued agent,” added Mitchell.

Ironically, Mitchell found the NextHome franchise doing what she does best – helping a client.
“I happened to go to an open house with my buyer and saw the NextHome sign and the little dog next to the sign,” recalled Mitchell. “Later that night, I did some research about the company and loved what I saw with the technology and the energy from the NextHome Corporate staff. When the time came to open my own company, I knew NextHome was the right fit for me.”

When not selling real estate, Mitchell and her husband of 35 years, Steve, enjoy heading to their cabin in Blue Canyon and spending time outdoors. The couple have two children, one grandchild and another grandchild due May 2018.

In addition to actively selling real estate his entire career, Gold has been running and leading real estate offices since 2003.

In 2010, he took over as full-time manager of the Coldwell Banker Real Estate office in Davis.

“I love being able to mentor and help agents reach their potential,” said Gold. “Being a managing broker allows me to follow my passion of coaching and helping agents reach their goals personally and professionally.”

As a manager of two offices, Gold was responsible for overseeing 70 agents who closed more than 600 transactions annually.

Gold was introduced to NextHome several years ago when he saw member of the franchise’s leadership team speak at the California Association of REALTORS® meetings. Based in Lady Lake, the company will be owned and operated by real estate broker, Jody Ashley. A second-generation REALTOR®, Ashley started his real estate career in 2014 after years in restaurant management and ownership.

Ashley was a Managing Partner and operated several Outback Steakhouse franchises and understands the value of what a franchise can provide to an ownership team of any type of business.

“Working in the restaurant industry before real estate helped me understand best practices in marketing, leadership and working within a franchise,” said Ashley. “Those skills have helped me in real estate immensely.”

Starting with RE/MAX in Indianapolis in 2014, he was a single agent before joining the Home to Indy team, led by Paula Henry, two years later.

When Henry decided to open her own brokerage with the NextHome franchise in 2016, Ashley stayed on the team and was able to experience the NextHome advantage first hand.

“As a part of Paula’s team, I was able to attend the NextHome Conference in New Orleans in March of 2017,” said Ashley. “Not only was this a company at the cutting-edge of technology, but one that genuinely cares about each one of the members of the franchise.”

In 2017, Ashley and his wife of 22 years, Misti, decided to relocate to Florida. Growing up in Florida, Ashley had many family members back home and wanted to be closer to them.

“Moving back to Florida was the perfect catalyst to open my own NextHome franchised location,” said Ashley. “Paula supported me with this transition and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to open NextHome Village Realty.”

Besides real estate, Ashley is passionate about helping others, specifically children.

The Ashleys are volunteers with an organization called Safe Families. The purpose of the organization is to place children in foster care in a temporary home while the adoption process is being completed. The Ashleys have opened their home to many children, as many as 10 foster children at the same time.

When not selling real estate, the Ashleys spend time with their four children – Jacob (age 23), Jessica (age 24), and twin 18-year-old daughters Amy and Alyssa.

NextHome kicks off the New Year with new office in California

NextHome kicks off the New Year with new office in California

Zach McReynolds & Cherrie Brown
Zach McReynolds & Cherrie Brown

Pleasanton, CA — January 1, 2018  NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the franchise, NextHome Real Estate Rockstars. The brokerage represents the 51st location opened in California for the NextHome franchise.

Based in Valencia-Santa Clarita, the company will be owned and operated by the high-powered real estate team of Cherrie Brown and Zach McReynolds. They will be joined on the leadership team by Office Manager and Broker of Record, RoxAnne Webber.

NextHome Real Estate Rockstars will provide real estate services such as single family residential sales, first-time home buyers, multi-family properties, probate sales, distressed and short sale properties, move-up buyers and downsizing sellers, and investment sales to the communities of Valencia, Santa Clarita, Newhall, Saugus, Canyon Country, Stevenson Ranch, Castaic, and the remainder of Ventura County.

With a population of 60,000 residents, the city of Valencia-Santa Clarita is located about one hour north of Downtown Los Angeles. Valencia-Santa Clarita is home to the famous Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park, which sees more than 3.3 million visitors annually.

Brown and McReynolds each started their real estate careers under very different circumstances.

Brown began her career at 18 years old. When she started in 2004, she didn’t even have a car for transportation.

“I was known as the REALTOR® who rode her bike,” said Brown with a laugh. “I actually got my California Driver’s License after I got my real estate license.”

Even at a young age, Brown worked hard and sold an amazing 15 homes in her first year. She credits her success to holding a lot of open houses and investing her real estate profits back into her business.

Steadily building her business, Brown’s sales grew to average more than $10 million in volume annually.

In 2011, Brown needed help with developing her online presence and online lead generation. After moving her license to Keller Williams Realty, she met McReynolds who was just starting with the company.

McReynolds came from a background of computer programming and retail. As a successful online clothing retailer, his knowledge of technology and sales were a huge advantage coming into real estate.

Seeing the benefit of hiring McReynolds to help her with technology, the pair not only found working together to be enjoyable, but very productive. They formalized their business partnership in 2013 and then moved to work at HomeSmart NRG.

Taking the moniker Real Estate Rockstars, Brown and McReynolds got their team name by a very innocent observation from their friends and clients.

“We both work a lot and tend to drink a lot of energy drinks,” said McReynolds. “With all the Rockstar energy drink cans laying around the office, our friends started calling us the Real Estate Rockstars. The name stuck and here we are.”

In their first year working together, they sold 26 homes. In 2014, they doubled their business by selling 52 homes. In 2017, Brown and McReynolds sold exactly 100 homes.

Running their real estate team like a brokerage, Brown and McReynolds thought 2018 to be the perfect time to open their own company. They were looking to pair with a franchise and after finding NextHome, they knew it was the right fit.

“We Googled and looked for a tech-savvy franchise that would work well with our style,” said McReynolds. “No one stood out except NextHome. After seeing what the company could do for us, it was a no-brainer.”

When not selling real estate, both Brown and McReynolds focus on being great parents. Brown has two children – daughter Charlotte (age 9) and son Stevie (age 5). McReynolds has two boys – Kaden (age 16) and Karson (age 4).

Please join us in congratulating Cherrie, Zach, RoxAnne and the rest of the team at NextHome Real Estate Rockstars on the opening of their brand new NextHome office in Valencia-Santa Clarita, CA!

Jennifer Vinson
Jennifer Vinson

Pleasanton, CA — December 31, 2017  NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the franchise, NextHome Hale Realty. The brokerage represents the third location opened in Hawaii for the NextHome franchise.

Based in Waikiki on the island of Oahu, the company will be owned and operated by real estate broker and CEO, Jennifer Vinson. Joining her on the leadership team will be the Vice President of the company, Rich Lew.

NextHome Hale Realty will provide real estate services such as single family residential sales, first-time home buyers, multi-family properties, and investment sales to the entire island of Oahu with a focus on Waikiki and Honolulu.

With a population of just under one million residents, the island of Oahu is the third largest of the Hawaiian Islands. The island is also home to the famous Diamond Head volcanic mountain range.

Originally from New York, Vinson moved to Oahu in 2003 and began her real estate career shortly after.

Starting with Century 21 Real Estate, Vinson steadily built her real estate business through personal relationships with veteran families who were relocating.

In 2008, she pivoted to help homeowners affected by the national recession. Whether it was helping homeowners modify their loan to stay in their home, assisting in short sales, or even helping resell properties for the bank through foreclosure, Vinson was the community resource for all things real estate.

Vinson attained her broker’s license in 2014 with the intention of someday opening her own brokerage. In mid-2017, that opportunity became a reality when she found the NextHome franchise.

“I was an owner and franchisee of a Curves fitness franchise and I understand the value of what a well-run franchise can do for a business,” said Vinson. “With everything NextHome provides the franchisee, there’s no doubt that our agents will be at the forefront of helping our sellers get the best service when listing with us.”

Vinson and Lew are excited about working with each other professionally for the first time. Engaged since March 2017, the couple are looking to grow the NextHome brand and add talented agents to their brokerage.

Vinson and Lew both enjoy traveling, at home and abroad. With Hawaii offering so many local cruises, they take advantage of everything the islands have to offer. Additionally, the couple will be traveling to several destinations in 2018 including Japan and Thailand.

Please join us in congratulating Jennifer, Rich and the rest of the team at NextHome Hale Realty on the opening of their brand new NextHome office in Waikiki, HI!

After seven years of a career as a teacher, Hanewinkel started his real estate journey in 2016 with the intention of supplementing his income.

“It was never intended to be a full-time career, but once I started I realized how much I enjoy helping people buy and sell homes. I decided to leave teaching to pursue real estate,” recalled Hanewinkel.

In his first full year, Hanewinkel focused on building strong relationships within his community and ended up selling 14 homes.

In 2017, his business grew to the point he had to consider how to scale and maintain his quality of service. More technology and systems was an obvious need, but it opened up an additional opportunity as well.

“Even though I worked at a stable brokerage, I thought it was the right time to go out on my own,” said Hanewinkel. “Although I’m going out on my own to open a brokerage, I don’t feel alone in business as a franchisee with NextHome.”

“With the technology NextHome Simple Transitions will be bringing to buyers and sellers in our market, I feel we are positioned to help our clients like no other real estate brokerage can,” added Hanewinkel.

Hanewinkel does more than sell real estate and freely gives his time to help others in need.

Since 2010, Hanewinkel has volunteered with the American Diabetes Association. As a Type 1 diabetic, Hanewinkel shares his story about living with diabetes and spends time speaking with diabetics on healthy lifestyles. He also helps raise money for awareness, prevention, and treatment for those with diabetes.
